A Farewell To the Holidays: A Celebration of Lights

Farewell to the Holidays ... the Bittersweet End

As the wonderful, yet hectic often, Holidays have come and gone, and Christmas, which was once just around the corner, has now gone by ... this short video I made with my kids in it, shows a snippet of fun and good times, as our Christmas break winded down to the bittersweet end.

It is always hard to say goodbye to the Holidays, in my opinion. Thankfully, many people, including cities and towns leave up their Holiday lights long after the festivities have faded. I find that the brightness and prettiness of the colours and twinkling lights can still spread a bit of comfort and joy into what can otherwise, sometimes become a month (or two, or more...) of dreariness with inclement cold and weather that tries our patience even at the best of times — although, I do enjoy winter and the stillness of nature amidst what is often an intense time back at school for myself and with the kids, and all that life unfurls.

And finally, because this was such a sweet and simple memory and time to relish, I wanted to share it with you. You can find the link to my YouTube channel if you would like to watch more of my vlogs and music videos, here: https://www.youtube.com/c/danielleedwardsmusic

I upload weekly on most months, or sometimes wait a week or two longer to ensure the quality is best, and I feel I have something worthwhile to share with my audience. I would love to have you join me, so please follow the link and subscribe, if you would like to see more content like this!

Thank you so much for taking a sacred moment out of your busy life to watch this homespun video I created. By the way, the location was #justuptheroad, as the hashtag for Tourism Harrison has adopted for their own. It is well appreciated!

Since we live about an hour and 15 minutes away from Harrison in a small community outside of Boston Bar, BC., we hit this spot on the way home from getting errands done in Chilliwack (the closest bank for my branch I can go to is an hour and 20 minutes away because we are in a rural area).

Needless to say, it was well worth the fun (even if my children groaned a little and contested and complained before we got there that I was taking them ‘waaay far out of the way’ and that they all wanted to “just go home.” I think in the end, they realized, ‘mama knows best’ and were glad we stayed out a little and didn’t worry about getting home a little while past midnight.

Incidentally, there were no ministerial mice, nor pompous pumpkins, not to mention gorgeous glass slippers that vanished from their magical appearance and left us distraught and confounded in the end. I had no Prince Charming to impress or Fairy Godmother’s curfew to obey.

We were only mystified and mesmerized, well grounded in the moment with the celebration of the Christmas lights, as we took time, (so very important to do) once more together (or for us, it was honestly, the first time to pause and explore the lights during the holiday season) and enjoy the simplicity of lights.
