I saw it in slow motion, Angie's arm going up into the air, her hand gripping her ice cream cone. The cone and ice cream separating from her hand, from each other. Tumbling down to the pavement in unceremonious somersaults, like an Olympic diver who had gotten drunk before their big moment.

SPLAT! The ice cream looked like it made a sound as it landed. I gave it a 7.5/10.

"I'm so sorry," I said as she stared at the ground, bottom lip trembling.

"It's fine," she crossed her arms with a huff because it was not fine. This had been a bad day for her. What with the meeting at work we had just came from and everything.

"I'll get you another cone," I started to turn.

"Rebecca just stop, you ruined my life," she said, "accept that and move on."

"It's just ice cream," I said, getting back in line, it was a long one.

"And?" she said.

"And I guess I did bump into you and knock it out of your hand," I said. There I confessed. I apologized, what more did she want?

"Before that?" she said.

I scoffed, "Oh, that... that was," I waved my hands in the air like it was water under the bridge.

"Say it, what happened Rebecca? I want to hear you say what you did with your own mouth so I know I didn't imagine it," she said.

"Okay, I didn't hold the elevator open," I shrugged, stepping forward in line.

"And?" she pushed.

"And you had to take the stairs," I said.

"Because?" she kept up.

"Because you needed to get out of there," I said, watching myself twist the toe of my foot into the ground.

"Because?" she said.

"Umm," I scratched my head and looked up at the sky, like the answer was up there.

"Rebecca!" she shouted. People turned to look at us.

"Because the meeting went bad and we had to leave," I said.

"Went bad why?" she said gritting her teeth.

"Because I got a little upset," I said, moving forward in line some more.

"A little?" she scoffed, "talk about a little upset, apologize!"

"No I will not apologize, I had every right to be upset," I stomped my foot.

"Let's remember what happened today, okay? You come in this morning and sit beside me talking about some guy you met this weekend, is that right?" she said.

"Yep," I bit my lip, then to the cashier I was handing money to, I said, "strawberry."

"And it's distracting and I can't finish the big project, right?" she started pointing at me.

"Uh huh," I said.

"So when you find out our new supervisor is having a meeting to introduce himself, you don't quit talking, you just start talking about who he could be," she said.

"Sounds reasonable," I said.

She rolled her eyes, "So not only do you not let me finish my work, you have me all frazzled before an important meeting with our new boss, is that right?"

"Yes," I said.

"And then, once we get to the meeting, you start talking about your weekend again, the guy you slept with," she said.

"I remember that," I said.

"And then when our new boss comes in, you point at him and say, 'that's him' in front of everyone," she said.

"And it was," I shrugged.

"And I told you that he was my husband," she said.

"You did, but see I didn't know that before," I started.

"And that's when you jump up on the table and start screaming at my husband, who is also our new boss about how he cheated on your friend, is that what happened?" she squinted at me.

"But he did cheat on you," I said, taking the ice cream from the guy behind the counter.

"Yea with you," she said again.

"And I am so sorry about that..." I said, she glared at me, I bit my lip again, handing her the ice cream cone. She let out a growl and slapped it out of my hand. It tumbled to the ground. 8.5/10 bronze metal.
