When was the last time you visited a public library? If it’s been a while, you’re probably missing out on tons of fun freebies beyond books. In a world where free stuff is nearly unheard of, the library is a gold mine of resources available to borrow or use with your library card.

Every library offers its own freebies. Resources and items available can vary by location. However, the items listed below are typical freebies offered at public libraries across the U.S.

Streaming Service

​Netflix not in your budget? Crave a good movie? Head down to the library and use your library card to access free, legal streaming services via Hoopla and Kanopy. The platforms offer a wide range of content, including movies, TV shows, documentaries, audiobooks, and more, accessible on computers, TVs, phones, and tablets.

Kid’s Events​

Public libraries tailor programs around children. Nothing is more precious than watching a child develop a lifelong love of reading at a young age. in addition to borrowing free books and movies, kids and their parents can visit the library for exciting events.

Available for children ages 0 to around 8, free kids' events may include storytime, character meet-and-greet sessions, magic shows, puppet shows, art classes, and more.
