Crawlin’ In at This Hour

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished about 6 hours ago 1 min read

Verse 1

Well the moon was high and the night was cold

And I wandered home as the story unfolds

You were sleepin’ sweet in your flannel sheets

And I thought, Lord, this is cozy as can be

So I tiptoed soft like a lovesick fool

Slid right in like it’s perfectly cool

And you opened one eye, lookin’ half amused

So I whispered, “Baby, don’t ruin the mood”

Chorus (Rewritten)

’Cause I’m just tryin’ to snuggle, darlin’, that’s the plan

Wrap my arms around you like your number‑one fan

All you gotta do is hug me back again

Don’t start askin’ why I’m crawlin’ in at this hour, babe

It ruins the moment

Yeah, it ruins the moment

Verse 2 (Rewritten)

Now the dog woke up and gave me the stare

Like he’s thinkin’, “Man, you’re late again” — fair

But I scratched his ears and he let me stay

Guess he figured I was harmless anyway

You said, “Honey, you’re a mess, you know”

I said, “Sure I am, but let’s just go slow”

Then I pulled you close with a sheepish grin

Said, “Questions later, cuddles first — climb on in”

Bridge (Rewritten)

Maybe someday I’ll explain the whole thing

Why I wandered in with your pillow in a headlock swing

But tonight let’s skip the logic, skip the why and when

Just let me be your mystery man of 2 a.m.

Final Chorus (Rewritten)

’Cause I’m just tryin’ to snuggle, darlin’, that’s the plan

Wrap my arms around you like your number‑one fan

All you gotta do is hug me back again

Don’t start askin’ why I’m crawlin’ in at this hour, babe

It ruins the moment

Yeah, it ruins the moment

So hush now, honey — let the cuddlin’ begin
