Cultivate And Release

What Comes Back Challenge

By Andrew C McDonaldPublished about 7 hours ago Updated about 7 hours ago 1 min read

Lovingly I stroke her …

Smooth, silken, sweet.

Remembering the many hours spent cultivating her;

Turning her into the perfect instrument:

Sanding her rough edges…

Ensuring every curve of her was just so.

Rotating her, I check for blemishes.

There were none. She was perfect.

One last stroke of that gorgeous body.

One last kiss for luck.

Now comes the time…

Time for the release.

Time to let her go …

Let her fly as she was meant to.

Let her soar upon the winds seeking…

Aimed with deadly precision,

Searching out her prey…

My messenger of vengeance

Set loose at last.

For a moment I watch her go

Every wobble gripping my heart.

Glint of sunlight upon her form as she flew from me…

My very soul felt ripped from my body.

Would she return to me?

Did I shape her properly?

Finally… She turns

I watch as she changes trajectory.

Yes! I see her in the distance…

Her silhouette getting larger… closer.

Holding out a hand I reach for her,

My beauteous handiwork;

Only to lose a finger as she swishes past…

Next boomerang better be a tad less sharp.
