Copper in the low light
Poison on a slow night
Moment like a match head
Praying I will strike it just right
I gave you all of my good side while you showed me yours
Smile for the photo op let loose out the door
Gave you everything I could, let you fill up on me
Hands of holy fire while you siphoned my dreams
You played it like you meant it
Just enough to sell it
Kissed me like a séance
Raised the dead and left it
Every little moment
Turns out you had stolen
Had me thinking heaven
like you halfway owned it
~~~
You let your body talk
But never let me listen
Lean in like you want love
Then leave after some kissinâ
~~~
So tell me what it meant
When your mouth was on mine
I was calling it magic
You were just killing time
Tell me who I was then
When you pulled me in close
Rolled the tinted windows
Like you needed me most
You say you never loved me
That you lied with your hands
Was I a shadow in the right light
Just the shape of another man?
~~~
Back pressed into my chest
Distracted by what comes next
Crowd moves like a flood
Rising with the pulse in my blood
Youâd tease at the distance, Work me to the edge slow
Every almost-touch, a dare where I shouldâve said no
You kept me on a short wire, buzzing when you walked by
Made a whole religion out of praying for signs
~~~
You let your body talk
Like it had some confession
Let your eyes dance over me
with quiet affection
~~~
So tell me what it meant
When your mouth was on mine
I was calling it magic
You were just killing time
Tell me who I was then
When you pulled me in close
Rolled the tinted windows
Like you needed me most
You say you never loved me
That you lied with your hands
Was I a shadow in the right light
Just the shape of another man?
~~~
Foxfire, Burning where the truth shouldâve been
Foxfire, Pretty lie under my skin
~~~
Did you picture someone else
Every time you looked at me?
Did you keep me in frame
Just to fake some chemistry?
Was I just your stand-in?
Did I wear the right outline?
âCause I held you like a miracle
And you held me like dead time
~~~
Say it with your full chest
Say you felt nothing
Say all those long nights
Were just your way of bluffing
Say that all that red flame
Never meant danger
I was in your arms
While You were with a stranger
~~~
So tell me what it meant
When your mouth was on mine
I was calling it magic
You were just killing time
Tell me who I was then
When you pulled me in close
Rolled the tinted windows
Like you needed me most
You say you never loved me
That you lied with your hands
Was I a shadow in the right light
Just the shape of another man?
~~~
Copper in the low light
Gone when the song ends
I gave you everything
You gave me pretend
