Remember Me One Day

Then curse yourself for letting me go

Remember Me One Day

When silence folds around your name,

And life no longer feels the same,

Will something stir inside your chest,

A ghost that never came to rest.

I was the voice you turned away,

The one you chose not to obey,

A quiet truth beneath your lies,

A fading light behind your eyes.

You walked through days I could not share,

And left me breathing empty air,

Still something in you must remain,

A trace of me, a hidden stain.

The years will pass, they always do,

They take the false, reveal the true,

And in that still and aching space,

You may recall my shadowed face.

No need for tears, I ask no plea,

Just let one thought return to me,

A whisper drifting through your mind,

Of what you lost, and left behind.

I gave you more than words could show,

A depth you never chose to know,

Yet even now, I will not fade,

I live in choices that you made.

The nights grow long when truth appears,

It rises through the weight of years,

And in that hour, when you are weak,

It will be me your heart will seek.

Not for love, not to repair,

But just to know I once was there,

A soul that stood, and did not break,

Though you gave more than I could take.

So when the world has turned away,

And nothing else is left to say,

Remember me, just once, just then,

And know I will not come again.

For I have walked beyond your call,

Beyond your rise, beyond your fall,

Yet still I linger, far away,

A name you will recall one day.
