So You Haven’t Met My Subconscious?
After It’s Gone

Processing Pain Through the Unique Lens Provided by My Tormentors
*
Everyone knew better than I did,
Accusing me of things
I'd never even conceived of,
And I'm on good terms
With my creative self.
After creating everything,
They doubted I had done it all alone.
They sought to downplay my efforts and worth,
Never considering that we write
From our subconscious minds .
As any experienced writer will tell you,
Our minds encompass both sides.
But for most of us,
Out there in the world,
The conscious mind dominates.
We must be vigilant about road hazards
Whether driving or walking across streets.
We need to seek sustenance, get dressed,
And conduct ourselves as commendably as we can.
Yet, inwardly, our thoughts diverge,
We harbour dreams, experience setbacks, feel let down, and more.
This is where our subconscious mind lives.
It holds many peculiar things:
Whole narratives waiting to unfold,
The bitterness that burdens communities and nations,
And love that lasts a lifetime.
All of it
Is incredibly powerful.
People deliberately use potent influences to suppress these feelings.
Yet, buried deep within,
They will always remain, regardless of how numb we become.
They told me I was wrong
As I tried to compose my life's song.
I wrote down my worries, ignoring reality,
When reality’s pain proved unbearable.
For many, there's nothing compelling outside of facts,
And people seem to lack the skill to soothe sorrows.
They themselves inflict it with a single word,
Rejecting a friend, a lover, a daughter or a son.
They don't realise how hard life is,
While one finds writing these matters daily quite easy.
It seems they wanted it this way;
They could never apologise or change their ways.
Trying to save thousands, while someone as insignificant as me was there.
They've completely forgotten about me
Or they're intent on changing things the wrong way.
They're using tools outside of psychology,
Even though every issue in the world
Requires the correct knowledge from the correct field.
We should never forget this, especially when someone dares to ask us.
