The Next to The Last
What would you do, if you knew?

At a great distance, your approach unto all which we are
Forget that it is you whom taught us to be this way
Greatest motivators of the modern universe may not do better
For your motivations have lived on through each foray
---
Step up and try to do whatever you must
This is not the first time we've seen your wickedness
Planned for you we have done, and we are ready
Don't think anything of asking for forgiveness
---
In the morning sun I feel your hand of fate
And by nitefall lyou may be hear to collect
Not what one of us wanted
And some look at you, and all they can do is reject
---
You may be the last of your kind
Nothing good would ever last
Crashing upon us as the key to what's next
Coming for many, far too fast
---
It is beauty of you that attracts to you
We come like magnets to metal
Never do the masses know what they failed to do
The should have stopped to smell at least one rose petal
---
Never knowing what in the scheme of it all you are
And always avoiding your reality
But living like we're under you as the brightest star
And daring to bathe in the waters of you duality
---
Who send you for us
Do we steer ourselves to you with reckless abandon
Hair on fire like our heroes
Looking for safe harbors in the choppiest seas, a place to land on
---
Nay, but you are simply there
Like the waters of life
And in that very breath of fresh air
Always waiting for your chance, to turn that knife
---
This is the story of one so elusively known
But you are never understood
In folklorish tales you are told and have been shown
So we could postpone your affect, if only we could
---
You are the last
With some many in the rear
So much time has past
You are the last in that final year
---
So we must hold onto
With a grip so strong it crushes the soul of the world
For we do not yet belong to
We'll stay on the next to the last
---
The last day

This is a top poem, Jason. It has been well thought out and put together in a brilliantly constructive manner. Do you publish your poems in books? I'd love to buy them.
