The Writer's Dilemma

How I'd like to sleep

By Lee RobyPublished about 12 hours ago 1 min read

A Writer’s Dilemma Villanelle

Our reality trapped beneath the conscious bare, Reading and writing till our eyes bleed red. Oh, how I'd like to sleep.

Vague nepotism of a thought that's rare Concluding chapters, overread pages, run amok on my bed. My mind focused on what I reap.

Oh, how I read, listen, stop and stare, Making edits till my mind says enough already, enough said. Oh, how I'd like to sleep.

Oh, how I wish I didn't care, Pushing through the pain till my mind goes dead. My mind focused on what I reap.

I write and write till my ligaments tear, Focusing on the deep, deep, dread. Oh, how I'd like to sleep.

Praying for words to guide my thoughts and as I grasp for air Working night and day to finish my writing a narrative thread. Our reality trapped beneath the conscious bare, Oh, how I'd like to sleep.
