October's Magickal Milkweed Memo: Beyond the Obvious Fluff
Milkweed in October is such a beautiful sight. Open pods displaying long, white, silky hairs; other nearby pods are in mid transition, offering a sneak-a-peak at the inside floss, also known as coma. Asclepias syriaca's (Common Milkweed) brown seeds are a delight to behold when the plant's silky parachute releases them into the air, creating a magickal effect via wind-born encouragement.

Tracking Marimba. Top Story - October 2025.
Autumn is an earth-based Broadway. I enjoy the show: bronze, crimson, golden-trimmed trees- captivating backdrops with many a fine actor, singer, dancer, entertaining me. Apple orchard pickings, red stripes, blush, yellow-green- Fuji, Gala, Honeycrisp, Golden Delicious- I eat it all up. Romping squirrels, spiraling leaves, wind-scattered chestnuts, weather shifts, pumpkin patch surprises-- jackolantern galleries in intermingling oranges- they all meet my heartfelt applause.

Dancing With The Dead
Ta-tum, ta-tum, rat-a-tat-tat, ta-tum; I will never forget the sound, that particular sound on a certain October morning. It was one week following the Autumn Equinox. Just another neighborhood drumming moment- normal in my community, but on this day, the beat to dancing feet synchronized something most surreal, forever altering my vision of the deceased.

Claim Your Castle: Draw a Bridge From Fantasies and Fairy Tales to a Well-Lived Reality
Good morning and welcome to part 3 of my autumn Monday Morning series, Salem Spirit! Today's feature photo is of the Hammand Castle Museum located on the coastline of Gloucester, Massachusetts. Roughly a half-hour drive from Salem, and a must-see while making the fall touring rounds of New England.
