A Letter to my Friends and Family. Top Story - November 2024.
To my dear friends, Some of you were only in my life a short time, or we have not met in person for far too long, due to whatever combination of factors. Some of you have been in my life for longer than I care to recall, a steady undercurrent in these turbulent times. Some of you I set out to make friends with, others snuck up on me without warning, until one day I turned around and discovered that the number of my friends had increased.

The Fine Line…
Henry Jenkinson, Corporate Attorney on the cusp of being made a Partner, was wavering between heartbreak and worry. Three days with not a word, Henry being on the verge of calling a wellness check... then out of the blue - BAM! Heartbreak was currently winning, what with the break-up text from his fiance - former fiance? Did it count if he hadn't texted back yet? - staring up at him from his phone screen.

The Queen's Absence
The river ran backwards on the day the Queen vanished. That was not the strangest part of the day. One of the Queen's handmaidens was a daughter of the sea-god, after all, and water reacted to her emotions. Pelegia - all of the Royal handmaidens, really - got twitchy when the Queen was endangered.

Colin Bridgerton: Demi-Romantic Representation
. I've written before about Bridgerton, for all it's flaws, doing good things in terms of representation. I'm not the only one talking about that, but there's one thing that I'm not sure anyone else has actually noticed, something that I honestly never expected to see in a Romance show.

The Locked Door. Top Story - October 2024.
There was only one rule: don’t open the door. The rule dated back generations, to when the only actual buildings in the area were lean-to shacks, and the door was the most solid thing around. The buildings were stronger, now; stone and steel and concrete, but the old doors remained, ancient oak banded with iron.

Headcanons
I've been writing fanfiction for a long time. As I mentioned in my other Representation entry, I didn't grow up seeing myself represented in Media. On the rare occasion that I did see Autism, or Asexuality, represented, it was usually as a caricature, or the punchline of a joke, or a problem to be solved. Other times, as diversity became a popular thing to include, it would be shown as an excuse for poor behaviour, or, more rarely, as Inspirational(TM), to make a character more impressive for having already overcome their hurdles due to their Special Interest being seen as valuable, like Rain Man or The Good Doctor.
