Secrets in the Shadows
The sound of off-key singing to Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” fills a SUV as it drives down a long road to the outside of Revelstoke, British Columbia. Martin and Claire Stannis bring up their entire family to a vacation house rental to get away from the stresses of the city. This includes Claire’s brother Max Wagner. The kids love having their Uncle Max around. He jokes with them, plays videogames, and watches Saturday morning cartoons. So, he is awesome to have around.

My stepfather was married before my mom, he was married to this beautiful biologist who caught a weird fungus on her skin and passed away fairly quickly, the tragedy is only worse when you take into consideration that she passed pregnant with twin girls, sadly, none of them made it.

Children of the Prophecy: Prologue
There was a young girl among the branches high in a forest. This girl had a large pointed nose, and piercing dark blue eyes, so dark they were almost black. She was clad in tight fuchsia silk-like pants with a matching silk-like robe on top. The sleeves and back of the robe trailed behind her as she effortlessly glided from one branch to the next. On her head, she had a matching headband keeping her long mane of golden brown hair back. On that headband was a white heart surrounded by the talon marks of an owl. She was only eight summers of age and was off doing her chores. Winter was approaching, and she and her brother needed to gather food for the upcoming months. Attached to her back was a large woven pouch that contained some nuts and fruit. She needed to fill the pouch that day; she was in an area of the forest that she hadn't been before. So she climbed and jumped to the top of the tallest tree, to look around... and found something. The edge of the forest. And something even weirder past the edge. She needed her brother to see this.

Safe and Sound
I work in a nursing home as an admissions coordinator. I give tours and help residents move into the facility when they’re no longer safe at home. I tell their families they’ll be safe and sound here at Covington Hills—loved and cared for. Up until now, I would have said that was true. But my residents were dying, and not from natural causes. Of that I am sure.

Part One I love their pain. Their screams sound like music in my ears. Their terror tastes sweet, rich with life. All that too short, pathetic life. Their lives are nothing but a waste, only spanning 70 or 80 years, never amounting to much more than simple reproduction, creating more wasted lives. But their pain and terror… Their fear explodes through my senses like a ripe blackberry on my tongue. Their broken screams that rip their own throats is beyond music. Their torn, mutilated flesh sends a thrill through me, even at the thought. Their dying pain is beautiful and delicious.

The Witches of Wizards Alton
Like most English counties, Stiltshire has had its fair share of witches, wise women, warlocks and various persons of pagan interests. Stiltshire folk over the centuries have been generally tolerant of such people, believing them to be at best purveyors of an ancient craft of healing and miracle working, and at worst harmless eccentrics. In the days of the witch hunts the county came under scrutiny and at first roused the interest of the witchfinders. In many a tavern could be found people who, on being plied with a few quarts or slipped the odd shilling, could be relied upon to recount lurid tales of child sacrifice, of flying broomsticks, or of elderly women indulging in unnatural practices with black cats or, more usually (this being Stiltshire), black pigs. However, on closer examination, the alleged perpetrators of these acts invariably proved to be strangers whom no-one could identify, victims’ names were curiously absent from parish registers and the secret glade in the middle of the forest always turned out to be one of a dozen such clearings, each with a blasted elm or a prominent ring of mushrooms. In the end the inquisitors, faced with this lack of hard evidence even by their standards, and increasingly out of pocket, turned their attention to other regions where the locals were more willing to betray their neighbours for the price of a pint or two.

To End it All
Below the surface, a pillar of light looms over a stone domed chamber with large stone throne-like chairs, seven in total, sit around the pillar of light. One by one, figures dressed in long white robes took their seats. As the last one took their seat, the pillar of light began to radiate a glow that brightened the whole room and a voice rang out throughout the chamber.

02/06 Thank you my past self for choosing only afternoon lectures on Monday. Well, the best-case scenario would be not having any classes on Monday, but it’s better than having an 8 am lecture. After all my classes were done, I tried to get some study done in the library with my friends, but as usual, it wasn’t the most productive study session. Even when I got back home, I barely made any progress on my assignments. Well, I guess I could have gotten a lot more done if I didn’t watch Netflix after dinner. But also, I kept getting side-tracked while I was working on my assignment.

This must be Heaven
“Ah, this must be Heaven,” I say, as I suddenly wake up. I do not know where those words came from. I do not remember much, just that I must be in a very nice place. I stand in a long corridor, with hundreds of people in front of me, possibly thousands, with many more behind me. I can see what lies ahead though. A grand exit of ancient Roman architecture is erected at the end of the marble pathway. Beyond that gateway lies another world. A large grassy field, with a clear sunny sky just up ahead. Although strangely, the grass and sky are grey, while the sun is a deep red. I get closer to the exit.
