8 Things I've Learned from Improv
I recently began a beginner's Intro to Improvisation course. As someone who's battled with social anxiety for literally decades, I didn't think I'd ever actually go through with it. But, fast-forward seven weeks and we're fast approaching our last session, and I don't want it to end! Here are the most valuable things I've learned.

Grateful
Life is a battle. We want to wrestle to make life work for us, but our life rarely works out how we envision. When I try to hold tight, and control what I want in my life it is a recipe to suffocate it and die. When I think about how the natural world works there is a time for caution, and a time for relaxation, but they are balanced, organic, easy. Like the sleeping lion for instance, there is always time to find peace even in the most aggressive animals. In America, it seems that we race and run our lives seeking, wanting, craving better or different, and we often forget to think about what we have. I was reminded this week to be mindful, to "just be," to stop struggling, and to relax into myself and find gratefulness. When you create the story of your life in a series of negative events, you pile yourself with worry, and unhappiness. We need to remind ourselves each day about what we have, and even if it is just for a couple of minutes, take out the time.

How to Cope with Loss?
Leaving. The little voice that has been inside your brain since you've known yourself. Some taking it seriously, some pushing it down; for fear or for reasons beyond themselves (and me). Obviously, everyone wants to spend spring break in Bora Bora, a week in Belize. But you notice this voice becoming louder and louder when, one day during work, you consider starting a new life in a small city in Colorado. However, when it starts approaching unbearable, the fear overcomes. Then, how to let go?

Focusing on Positivity
No matter how hard life gets, or how deeply you fall into darkness, you must remember to stay positive. When it feels like you’re all alone and you’re the only one that can understand yourself remember that you’re still living and breathing. Remember how lucky you are to have been given a chance at life. There are people that don’t get to live past birth. There are people that never reach it to their teenage years or to adulthood. There are people that would give anything to have the life you are living right now, and you may wonder why. If you think your life is bad, why would someone else appreciate it? It’s because there are those that only focus on the positives, even if the negatives outweigh them. Life is filled with positivity. Life itself is positive. Our very existence is a miracle. It’s something we should be taking full advantage of. We’ve been born into a world that we can learn from and evolve. Our possibilities are endless. We can be anyone and we can do anything. This is what should inspire us and make us feel positive.

6 Uncommon Ways to Self-Care
There have been numerous think pieces plastered online to share tips on how to properly "self-care." In efforts to attend to our mental and emotional wellness, we’ve been advised to take long, soothing bubble baths, journal, read our favorite book, or simply spend time with nature. All of these are viable options for self-care but there are some healthy habits these think pieces often overlook. Some of the most impactful gifts we can provide ourselves are can be found right within. Here are 6 uncommon ways to self-care.

Getting Out of Your Comfort Zone
Try something new. I have never been the best at writing and right now I am struggling to find words on what to say, but something has always driven me to enjoy the art of writing. I have always been big on reading and can often finish a whole book in one night if I put my mind to it. As a little girl, I would try writing and posting on an app called "Wattpad" where regular people (just like myself) can post stories or poems or anything they had a desire to write about. Whenever I would begin to write a story, I would doubt my ability to write and got discouraged because my stories were horrid compared to others.

Ahimsa
Okay, let's start at square one: what in the world is "ahimsa"? Friends, Romans, Countrymen, let me introduce you to a beautiful concept I discovered recently. Ahimsa is the concept of compassion to all living things. It comes from Sanskrit "himsa" which roughly translates to "injury" or "harm". Ahimsa is the opposite of this. So, "to cause no harm or injury."

This Is Why Rejection Is a Good Thing
Have you ever thought you were in love only to be told by the one you admire that he or she wants to break up with you? Have you ever applied for a job and been told the organization or company chose someone else? Have you ever applied to a school or program and been declined entry?

I'm Rich. Top Story - June 2018.
I’ve been fortunate enough to visit a few other countries in my life. I love seeing other people speak their mother tongue, eat food that’s strange to me, see centuries-old architecture. Most of the time when I travel, it’s pretty laid-back and my thoughts swirl around a certain cathedral or the intricacies of bagged milk (looking at you, Canada). But every now and then I visit a place that, for better or for worse, makes me feel rich.

Accepting Change
Change is the shadow that lingers in the corner of every room, but it is also the light that shines through your window of opportunity. Change may seem scary or unwanted, but it is going to happen. But an inevitable change is something we shouldn’t fear, like getting older. It happens to everyone and there isn’t anything we can do to stop it, so why not embrace it? Throughout life we go through various changes, both physically and mentally, and some changes, even some of the worst ones, can be the most rewarding of all. You may lose your job but then find one that suits you even better. You could move to a new country or meet a new partner after going through the breakup of a failed relationship. These are all things you shouldn’t be afraid of. You should want them to happen. Yes, you may be content with the life you have now but you are never going to have new experiences if you don’t allow them to happen. You need to take risks and see change as something positive.
