John Jay Settles for Tie Versus Byram Hills
On Monday, September 12, John Jay took to Contest Field and hoped to begin a winning streak against Byram Hills. Controlling the play in the first half, the Wolves were unable to grab a lead. So the Bobcats did the honors and jumped out to a 1-0 lead moments after intermission. The irony was not lost on the home team either. “It was like a slap in the face,” said Shannon Nolan, and the girls responded with two goals to take the lead. But two overtime periods passing, John Jay still had to go home with half a smile.

Why signing too many players in a transfer window is a suicide
Seeing teams get promoted always fills me with joy. They have suffered so much, played so well, overcame all the downfalls, and possibly with a bit of luck, it was enough for them to secure the spot among the league’s best. I was one of many who were eager to see Nottingham Forest FC back in the Premier League. Once a European force was not in the English flight division for some time. But after signing player after player in the summer transfer window doubts began to rise. That can’t work I said to myself. Up to this point, I was right. Let’s see why.

Hello readers, I hope you all have been enjoying my recent posts. It’s been a while since I’ve written an NFL blog, but I’ve decided to give it another try. We are almost a third of the way through the 2022-23 NFL season and so far, there have been a handful of teams that did not make the postseason last year but have showed some noticeable improvement and/or displayed flashes of upside that seem to indicate they could be contenders when January arrives. I’ve identified seven such teams and consulted my (imaginary) magic eight ball to seek answers to the question… will (insert team name here) make the playoffs this season?

UEFA Nations League serves only lower-ranked countries
When UEFA Nations League was introduced it received much skepticism. Since it was something completely new, quite expectedly. After two whole editions behind us and the last one in the final stages (only the final four of league A winners and C league relegation battles yet to play), it’s fair to say that not everyone is pleased with it. Don’t get me wrong. It has more positives than negatives, but one thing stands out the most. It conveniently serves lower-ranked countries while it produces more potential problems for the “big ones”. Let me explain why.

My Facebook Status is about to read: "Sorry in advance guys if we lose Red River, I broke down and broke unspoken tradition, I had What-A-Burger during OU-Texas Week. I rationalized it to myself by thinking we're basically supposed to lose this one going in with a Concussed Starting Quarterback and and Backup that didn't stick around at Pitt despite finally having Kenny Pickett out of his way. Plus Sonic sucks by comparison and Braum's doesn't serve lunch menu til 11 am."
