Football Movies Inspire Me Like No Other, and Here’s What They Can Do for You
Ever since I got deployed, I used football films as a way of finding forms of intense motivation. The films that come to mind are Friday Night Lights, The Blind Side, and When the Game Stands Tall.

Should Have Watched It With My Dad. Top Story - September 2021.
When I was incredibly young, I never understood why fathers watch sports. I have seen them in movies and on television shows. There is usually a father who is into sports. Of course, my dad (God bless his soul) had always been a huge fan of sports – especially football, boxing, and basketball. I am sure he watched other sports on television as well, but those were the three main sports I had always caught him watching.

NFL Week 2 Review
This was a week of unbelievable drama. I am referring of course to my Fantasy team. I had made a couple of changes to my winning team from week one. I had brought in Eli Mitchell from the 49ers as a running back, once I heard that because of injuries to others he was their primary running back. The way the 49ers scheme up running plays and block as a whole team, I would back myself to make a few yards playing running back for them, so I thought he would be a good one to add to the squad on a waiver for a few weeks at least. I thrust him straight into the starting line up as one of three running backs, along with Mixon and Edwards-Helaire. That meant dropping one of my wide receivers to the bench, I chose Woods from the Rams, who had been steady in week one but unspectacular. So my only receivers were Tyler Lockett and Sterling Shepard – who got my team off to a solid start by scoring seventeen and a half points in the Thursday night game against Washington. The other big call I made was swapping my quarterbacks over, bringing Herbert off the bench to start instead of Tannehill. That was partly because Herbert had been the more impressive of the two in week one, but also because he was playing Dallas at home, whilst Tannehill was travelling to Seattle.

Not Even Rookie Jones could stop the Dolphins
In an intriguing and close affair, the Miami Dolphins defeated the New England Patriots 17-16 at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on week one of the NFL. The Dolphins have now won three of their past four games on the road. They also increased their winning streak against Bill Belichick’s side to two, consecutively beating the Patriots for the first time since 2013/14. This also marks the first time the Dolphins have won two out of three at the Gillette Stadium since managing back-to-back away wins against the Patriots in 1999-2000. The Dolphins now lead the overall head-to-head standings between the two teams 57-54. Not great reading if you’re a Patriot fan.

Fans view of NFL Week 1
As has become a modern tradition, if there is such a thing, the season started with a Thursday night game involving the reigning champions. Tampa Bay hosted Dallas and were expected to get their title defence of to a winning start. It is easy to see why the Buccaneers are one of the favourites for the title this year, they became the first team in a long time to be able to keep hold of all twenty-two starters that won the Superbowl for them. Personnel wise they almost have the look of one of those star studded teams in San Francisco or Dallas in the early nineties, the days before the salary cap. Brady has three exceptional wide receivers to throw to in Evans, Brown and Goodwin, along with maybe the best tight end ever in his good friend Gronkowski, in the backfield they have an elite level running back in Fournette. Defensively they are almost as loaded with star players and importantly both lines are exceptional.

What is Sports Performance?
Not to brag but... Legendary Duke Basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski is retiring. The class of 2021 will be the last group of young men he will recruit as a head coach. It will be a special event and quite the memorable ride that I will have a special interest in. That’s because the last athlete that Coach K signed is one of my athletes. It’s a humbling thought that I could contribute to an amazing family and help an athlete maximize their potential, but that’s not the story here. The story here is how an athlete was brought to me before their 8th grade season for performance training and how easily it could’ve gone wrong.
