Mother Nature
Naomi marched up the steep gravel driveway in a fit of rage and exhaustion. She needed to clear her head, the voices had become overwhelming. All she had wanted was a little getaway in the Haliburton highlands, and yet the chaos that seemed to consume her life was inescapable. She paused at the top of the driveway, looking left then right, as she tried to steady her breathing. Both directions had luscious trees overhanging the road, which was really more like two ruts with grass growing in between. She chose left for no particular reason and forged on.

PMS Flu
I have been feeling more under the weather around my monthly cycle lately. Sometimes having bouts of nausea, fatigue, body aches...these symptoms could be confused with the flu or even a virus. However, after some research I found that this is commonly referred to as “Period Flu”. It is not fun being not your normal self for whatever reason so I knew I had to do all I could to feel my best. I have been off my exercise and healthy eating regime that allowed me to lose 50 lbs in the previous year. I have often told myself that this will catch up with me and it has. Luckily ,because “PMS Flu” is treatable with preventive measures and I can hopefully hop back to my normal self every month with some preventive self care.

What Women Should Know About Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
What is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome? Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is caused by an imbalance of reproductive hormones, which creates problems in the ovaries. The Lamentably Short Life of Kathryn Susanne West
The year was 1985. I remember sitting in the empty and dry bathtub, hugging my knees, and thinking my time was up. I was going to die. I was bleeding internally. It was only a matter of time. I had accomplished little in my short life. Now I probably had only hours to reconcile the meaning of my time on Earth, and hope that I would make it into heaven.

A Menstrual Healing Meditation Helped Me Dig Into a Goldmine of Inner Wisdom
I asked my friend Amy McKeown, a mental health and wellbeing and women’s health consultant who works with organisations to develop employee wellbeing strategies, to lead me in a menstrual healing meditation. She is among the first intake of women training to become a facilitator of menstrual medicine circles, a new healing modality developed by psychotherapists and women’s health experts Alexandra Pope and Sjanie Hugo Wurlitzer and taught through their UK organisation The Red School. It involves holding a woman in a meditation and using the power of ‘menstrual cycle awareness’ (MCA) to gain insight and healing across the physical, emotional and psychological layers of her being.

Bed, Birth & Beyond
I broke down again. I spent 18 months away from my friends and family. I did this to be with the person I love and he promised it would be different, he promised he would help out more, he promised he would be my emotional support since I would be away from my support network. We moved to a different state, but that may as well have been a different country, or a different planet.
