fact or fiction
Is it fact or merely fiction? Fact or Fiction explores the myths and beliefs we hold about copycat killers, eyewitnesses testimony, what makes a murderer and more.
Ali's Cowbird Story
I want to take some time and introduce this next piece. I wrote The Cowbird Story when I was a freshmen in Highschool. This was the first real piece of literature I produced that had a clear path to finding my voice. I grew up writing songs and poems, however, this short one page essay stood out to everyone, including my teacher. She pulled me aside and assured me that whatever I did, with practice to do it well, I could have a successful future using my creative side. Whatever that may mean for me throughout life, I never had that kind of support before. So, I kept going and I'm thankful for the reassurance and push my teacher had-my Highschool in general was great like that. I hope you enjoy it!

When Everything Goes Wrong in a Small Town
Doesn't look like the typical crime scene, does it? I learned the hard way that looks can be deceiving. People, monsters have a way of hiding who they really are, masquerading as human chameleons hiding in plain sight. Sometimes they are even under your own roof.

A dastardly crime
What is recounted here took place a few years ago, but the memory is still raw! During the university term I made a regular journey by bus, once a week on a Wednesday, to perform my duties as a part-time librarian at De Montfort University in Leicester (I have since retired from this post). At the time, the session ran from 5.00pm to 10.00pm, after which I left the library to walk to a nearby bus stop for the journey home. I had a choice between bus stops, because there were several possibilities, but I used to walk along the canal towpath for a short stretch, then up some steps to catch the bus in King Richard's Road, so named in honour of Richard III, who passed this way in 1485.

Breathing Nightmare
Breathing Nightmare The Final Chapter As I struggled to find the right words the doctors had explained to Matt that Mallory was not going to recover, but the sum of her parts could heal many. Instead of walking her down the aisle, Matt and Raeona walked Mallory down the hallway of the hospital. She donated valuable organs so others could live. It was the 11th of December and both weary and teary my little brother made the announcement on the doorsteps of Cottage Hospital. The crowd was numbering in the hundreds as he gave them the worst news possible.

Breathing Nightmare
Breathing Nightmare Chapter 2 Most of us hadn’t slept in two days now but in the morning we heard news that the swelling in Mallorys brain had gone down a fraction, we held out much hope this would be the start of a holiday miracle, and as Matt and I reached the landing the crowd had dispersed.

A Breathing Nightmare
A Breathing Nightmare (This is not my story to tell, but I’ll do my best, people need to know) I never bring my phone to bed, for any call in the middle of the night just plain sucks. No one has ever called me at 2:00 AM to tell me I’ve won the Publishers Clearinghouse Sweepstakes, nah, bringing the phone to bed is begging for trouble.

The Untold Story
The yearning and urge to write were eating at Sandy. More importantly, the desire to tell a story, true in nature, that revolved solely around her best friend Mae and her husband Tom begged to be written to set the record straight and right a wrong. She normally wrote fictional stories that carried the reader to far-reaching locations and inevitably included mystery, plots, romance, love, or even controversy. Her heart raced and her emotions pumped as each idea formed and words tumbled over one another as if vying for inclusion running through her like a fast-moving river.
